Sunshine, new connections and plenty of cricket: our Week One wrap-up

Our first week of the Wellington High School Holiday Cricket Programme brought close to 20 young cricketers together each day for three mornings of learning, meeting other players and enjoying the game.

From sunny outdoor sessions to making the most of the indoor facilities, it was a brilliant start to the school holidays.

Three mornings of cricket, whatever Wellington brought us

Monday and Wednesday brought beautiful Wellington sunshine. Friday brought a little more wind, but access to the indoor facility meant we could keep the cricket going and enjoy another morning of quality practice.

Across all three days, it was lovely to see players getting involved, spending time with other young cricketers and enjoying themselves.

A challenge for every player

We ran both softball and hardball groups, grouping players as closely as possible by age, experience and current skill level.

This helped our coaches tailor each session so players could learn and be challenged at a level that suited them, while keeping enjoyment at the heart of the morning.

Whether players were newer to cricket or already had experience, there was room to get involved and develop their game.

Thank you to our Week One families

A huge thank you to the players for their enthusiasm, and to the parents and families who supported our first week. We were really pleased with how the programme came together, and it was a pleasure to have your children join us!
